2. November 2020: Immatrikulationsfeier live aus der Aula / matriculation ceremony streamed live from the Aula
Mit einer feierlichen Festveranstaltung begrüßen die Universität und das Studentenwerk Göttingen die Studienanfängerinnen und -anfänger des Sommersemesters 2020 sowie des Wintersemesters 2020/2021. Die diesjährige Immatrikulationsfeier findet am Montag, 2. November 2020, ohne Publikum in der Aula am Wilhelmsplatz statt und wird live im Internet übertragen.
Die Veranstaltung beginnt um 17 Uhr mit der Begrüßung durch Universitätspräsident Prof. Dr. Reinhard Jahn, Prof. Dr. Andrea D. Bührmann, Vizepräsidentin für Studium, Lehre und Chancengleichheit, Prof. Dr. Hiltraud Casper-Hehne, Vizepräsidentin für Internationales, und Felix Schabasian, Vorsitzender des Allgemeinen Studierendenausschusses (AStA) der Universität Göttingen. Grußworte sprechen Karola Margraf, Vorsitzende des Rats der Stadt Göttingen, und Prof. Dr. Jörg Magull, geschäftsführendes Vorstandsmitglied des Studentenwerks Göttingen.
Ab 18 Uhr diskutieren Vertreterinnen und Vertreter studienrelevanter Einrichtungen in einem Live-Talk über Themen rund um den Studienbeginn. Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer haben die Möglichkeit, im Live-Chat online Fragen zu stellen. Die Veranstaltung wird für Gehörlose in deutsche Gebärdensprache übersetzt. Auch das Forum Studium findet in diesem Jahr digital statt: Einrichtungen der Universität, des Studentenwerks und der Stadt Göttingen sowie Göttinger Kultureinrichtungen stellen online unter www.uni-goettingen.de/immatrikulationsfeier ihre Angebote vor.
Auf derselben Seite sind auch das gesamte Programm und der Link zum Stream zu finden, außerdem für internationale Gäste die Texte der Grußworte auf Englisch und der Link zur Online-Übertragung des ökumenischen Semestereröffnungsgottesdiensts der Universitätskirche, der Evangelischen Studierendengemeinde und der Katholischen Hochschulgemeinde. Dieser beginnt um 20 Uhr in der Universitätskirche St. Nikolai, um teilzunehmen ist eine Anmeldung nötig.
The University of Göttingen and the Studentenwerk Göttingen welcome the first-year students of the summer semester 2020 and the winter semester 2020/2021 with a celebratory event. This year’s matriculation ceremony will take place on Monday 2 November 2020, without an audience in the Aula at Wilhelmsplatz, and will be broadcast live on the Internet.
The event begins at 17:00 with a welcome by University President Professor Reinhard Jahn, Professor Andrea Bührmann, Vice-President for Teaching, Learning and Equal Opportunities, Professor Hiltraud Casper-Hehne, Vice-President for Internationalisation, and Felix Schabasian, Chair of the general student council AStA of the University of Göttingen. Karola Margraf, Chair of the Göttingen City Council, and Professor Jörg Magull, Managing Director of the Studentenwerk Göttingen, will also greet the audience.
Starting at 18:00, representatives of academic institutions will, in a live talk, discuss topics related to starting studies. Participants have the opportunity to ask questions online in the live chat. The event will be interpreted in German sign language for people who are hearing impaired. This year, the student information fair will also take place digitally: facilities of the University, the Studentenwerk and the City as well as Göttingen’s cultural institutions present their services online at www.uni-goettingen.de/immatrikulationsfeier.

The service begins at 20:00 in the University Church of St Nikolai, and registration is required to attend.
