Liebe Angehörige der Universität,
liebe Studierende,
ich begrüße Sie herzlich im neuen Jahr und hoffe, dass Sie über den Jahreswechsel Ruhe und Kraft tanken konnten. Ihnen allen wünsche ich alles erdenklich Gute und für 2022 einen hoffnungsvollen Start in das Jahr.
Noch vor Beginn der Lehrveranstaltungen möchte ich Sie über den Ablauf der kommenden Wochen informieren:
Nach Beratung im Krisenstab, mit den Studiendekanaten und Studierendenvertreter*innen hat sich das Präsidium schweren Herzens entschlossen, die aktuellen Regelungen zu Lehrveranstaltungen bis zum Ende der Vorlesungszeit (11. Februar 2022) zu verlängern, so dass bis dahin die meisten Veranstaltungen nur noch online durchgeführt werden sollten – schweren Herzens deswegen, weil wir wirklich wissen, welche großen Einschränkungen für alle damit verbunden sind. Gleichzeitig können wir aber die Entwicklung der kommenden Wochen, vor allem die Auswirkungen der Omikron-Variante und der damit verbundenen möglichen Einschränkungen im öffentlichen Leben nicht abschätzen und konzentrieren uns darauf Praktika, Exkursionen und später die Prüfungen auf jeden Fall in Präsenz anzubieten.
Allen Befragten war es wichtig, für die Zeit bis dahin verlässliche und klare Regelungen zu haben und ein Hin- und Her zwischen Präsenz- und Online-Betrieb zu verhindern – vor allem, da bei einer steigenden Infektionsrate auch die Anzahl von Seminarteilnehmer*innen steigt, die durch Quarantänemaßnahmen nicht in Präsenz teilnehmen könnten. Auch die Schwierigkeit für Studierende und Lehrende, gegebenenfalls mehrfach am Tag zwischen Präsenz und Online zu wechseln, und die durch Anreise steigende Ansteckungsgefahr spielte bei der Entscheidung eine Rolle, auch wenn wir den Campus selbst aufgrund der Abstands- und Hygieneregeln und der außerordentlich hohen Impfquote für einen sicheren Ort halten. Wir empfehlen deshalb Online als Standard, sind aber der Auffassung, dass kleine Veranstaltungen in Absprache zwischen Studierenden und Dozent*innen auch in Präsenz stattfinden können.
Unsere Covid-19-Ampel steht aktuell weiterhin auf „gelb“, Präsenzveranstaltungen außerhalb von Lehre und dienstlichen Besprechungen sind bis zum Ende des Semesters nicht möglich. Ich danke Ihnen herzlich dafür, dass trotz der damit verbundenen Einschnitte der Universitätsbetrieb durch Ihr Engagement nicht still steht.
Dass wir uns ein Minimum an Freiheit erlauben können haben wir auch dem Campus-Covid-Screen (CCS) zu verdanken. Er erlaubt uns, das Infektionsgeschehen auf dem Campus zu überwachen, und ist seit dem 6. Januar 2022 wieder geöffnet mit erneut erweiterter Kapazität. Vielen Dank, dass Sie verantwortungsvoll mit den verfügbaren Terminen umgehen – die Auslastung der verfügbaren Termine konnte so in den letzten Tagen des vergangenen Jahres deutlich erhöht werden. Bitte buchen Sie weiterhin nur einen Termin, bei dem Sie sicher sind, dass Sie diesen auch einhalten können. Ich möchte daran erinnern, dass wir nun zur Absicherung bestimmter Präsenzveranstaltungen in der Lehre (Praktika, Exkursionen, Prüfungen) eigene Termine jeweils montags, dienstags und mittwochs von 8.30 bis 9.30 Uhr ausschließlich für Teilnehmende der entsprechenden Präsenzveranstaltungen anbieten. Bitte bringen Sie hierfür einen Nachweis Ihrer Dozent*innen oder der Fakultät mit. Bitte buchen Sie auch nicht zu viele Termine gleichzeitig. Die Software wurde so geändert, dass Sie nach Buchung eines Termins für den nächsten Tag gesperrt sind. Da es sich beim CCS um einen hochempfindlichen PCR-Test handelt, geht damit keinerlei Sicherheitsrisiko einher. Ich möchte auch daran erinnern, dass der Betriebsärztliche Dienst auch im Januar weitere Termine für Corona-Impfungen anbietet, zunächst am kommenden Montag, 10. Januar 2022, für Universitätsangehörige ab 30 Jahren.
Besonders aufmerksam machen möchte ich Sie, liebe Studierende, auf die Wahlen zu den studentischen Organen vom 17. bis 24. Januar 2022, die als Online-Wahl durchgeführt werden.
Und nun wünsche ich mir und Ihnen, dass wir auch in diesem Jahr die Pandemie und die damit verbundenen Herausforderungen gut überstehen werden und mehr Leben und Präsenz und wieder mehr Normalität auf dem Campus erreichen können.

Dear Staff, Dear Students,
I am writing to welcome you to the New Year. I hope that you were able to find peace and strength during the holiday break. I wish you all the very best for 2022 and an optimistic start to the year.
Before teaching begins, I want to inform you about the arrangements for the coming weeks:
Following consultation in the Krisenstab (crisis management team), with the deans of studies and student representatives, the Presidential Board has decided, with a heavy heart, to extend the current regulations on teaching courses until the end of the lecturing period (11 February 2022). This means that until that time most courses can only take place online. It is with a heavy heart because we really know what great constraints this puts on everyone. At the same time, however, we cannot yet assess how things will pan out over the next few weeks, especially considering the effects of the Omikron variant and the possible restrictions in our everyday lives that may have to follow. Certainly, we are focussing on making sure hands-on training, excursions and, later on, the examinations can take place in person.
It was important to everyone consulted to have reliable and clear rules for the time until then and to avoid switching between running everything onsite and online – especially since an increasing infection rate also increases the number of seminar participants who would not be able to participate in person due to quarantine. The difficulty for students and lecturers to switch between onsite and online several times a day and the increasing risk of infection due to travel also played a part in the decision, even though we consider the Campus itself to be a safe place due to the distancing and hygiene rules and the extraordinarily high vaccination rate. We therefore recommend that working online is the norm, but consider that small events can take place in person following consultation with the students and lecturers.
Our Covid-19 traffic light is currently still on „yellow“. Face-to-face events – apart from teaching and official meetings – are not possible until the end of the semester. I would like to thank you very much for the fact that, despite the associated restrictions, your commitment has prevented the University from being brought to a standstill.
The fact that we can allow ourselves a little bit of freedom is also thanks to the Campus Covid Screen (CCS). This allows us to monitor infection rates on Campus and has been up-and-running again since 6 January 2022, once again with increased capacity. Thank you for being responsible with the available appointments – it allowed us to significantly improve the utilisation of appointments in the final days of last year. Please continue to only book an appointment that you are sure you can keep. I would like to remind you that we are now offering separate timeslots on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 8:30 to 9:30 exclusively for participants at events held in person in order to ensure particular face-to-face events in teaching (hands-on-training, excursions, examinations) can take place. Please bring proof of attendance from your lecturer or the faculty. Please do not book too many appointments at the same time. The software has been changed so that once you have booked an appointment, you are blocked for the following day. As CCS provides a highly sensitive PCR test, safety is in no way compromised by this. I would also like to remind you that the Occupational Health Service will be offering further Corona vaccination appointments next Monday, 10 January 2022, for university staff aged 30 and over.
I would especially like to draw your attention, dear students, to the elections to the student committees, which will take place online from 17 to 24 January 2022.
And now, I wish personally for us all that we will get through the pandemic and its challenges well this year too, and that we can manage to have more life and more presence and more normality back on Campus again.
