Liebe Studierende, liebe Lehrende, liebe Mitarbeiter*innen,
die seit Mitte Dezember geltende Stufe 3 („rot“, hohes Infektionsgeschehen) unseres COVID-19-Stufenplans wurde erneut, diesmal bis zum Ende des Semesters am 31. März 2021 verlängert. Angesichts der geringen Inzidenzzahlen in Göttingen ist uns die Entscheidung dieses Mal besonders schwer gefallen. Wir sind aber nach Rücksprache im Krisenstab sicher, dass eine, auch sehr vorsichtige, Öffnung sich aufgrund der aktuellen Regeln von Land und Bund nur schwer umsetzen lässt und eine erhöhte Mobilität die Gefahr steigender Infektionszahlen in Göttingen und auf dem Campus mit sich bringt. Wir sind uns sicher: Die Göttinger Zahlen sind auch dank der Anstrengungen von Mitarbeiter*innen, Lehrenden und Studierenden so niedrig.
Spätestens in unserem Newsletter am 26. März werden wir Sie darüber informieren, ob die Stufe beibehalten oder geändert wird. Und wie in vielen vorangegangenen Newslettern erwähnt: Sollte sich ein Änderungsbedarf durch neue Regelungen von Bund, Land oder Stadt ergeben, informieren wir Sie schnellstmöglich darüber.
Wir freuen uns sehr, dass es die SUB ab Montag ermöglichen kann, im Lern- und Studiengebäude bis zu 65 Einzelarbeitsplätze anzubieten, und danken den Mitarbeiter*innen vor Ort sehr für ihren Einsatz.
Die vergangenen Tage und Wochen waren voll von Ankündigungen zu allgemein verfügbaren und kostenlosen Antigen-Tests. Auch hier beobachten wir die Entwicklung und informieren Sie, wenn sich daraus Konsequenzen für unsere Teststrategie und das Universitätsleben ergeben. Unabhängig davon bieten wir Ihnen aktuell weiter die Möglichkeit zu einem regelmäßigen, freiwilligen PCR-Test im Rahmen unseres Campus-Covid-Screen-Programms. Nach einem Umzug steht auch das Testcenter am Campus Nord wieder zur Verfügung. Dieses Programm steht allen Studierenden, Lehrenden und Mitarbeiter*innen nach vorheriger Anmeldung zur Verfügung (http://www.uni-goettingen.de/de/631931.html) und wir empfehlen, einmal pro Woche einen Test durchzuführen.
Für die Durchführung des Programms sind wir weiterhin auf finanzielle Unterstützung angewiesen. Informationen zu Spendenmöglichkeiten, auch per SMS, finden Sie auf der Spendenseite des Alumni-Vereins. Ganz besonderen Dank an Sartorius für eine Spende in Höhe von 100.000 Euro, und den Universitätsbund Göttingen, der das Projekt und unsere Spendenaktion mit einer Summe von 30.000 Euro, unterstützt, indem er jeden Spendenbetrag verdoppelt.
Zum Abschluss möchten wir Ihnen mitteilen, dass Prof. Dr. Metin Tolan in dieser Woche seine Ernennungsurkunde erhalten hat und das Amt des Präsidenten der Universität am 1. April antreten wird. Informationen zur (Online-)Antrittsveranstaltung senden wir Ihnen in der kommenden Woche zu.

Dear Students, dear Teachers, dear Colleagues,
Our covid-19 system (Stufenplan) remains at level 3 („red“ meaning a high rate of infection), which has been in effect since mid-December. This has been extended again, this time until the end of the semester on 31 March 2021. In view of the low incidence of infection in Göttingen, the decision was particularly difficult for us this time. However, after consultation within the Krisenstab (crisis management team), we are certain that a relaxation, even a very cautious one, would be difficult to implement due to the current regulations of the state of Lower Saxony and the federal government, and that increased mobility brings with it the risk of rising numbers of infections in Göttingen and across the Campus. We are certain that the Göttingen numbers are so low thanks to the efforts of staff, teachers and students.
We will inform you in or before our Newsletter on 26 March whether the level will stay or change. As mentioned in many previous newsletters: if there is a need for change due to new regulations from the government, the state or the city, we will inform you as soon as possible.
We are very pleased that the SUB will be able to offer up to 65 individual workstations in the Learning and Study Building (LSG) from Monday onwards, and we thank the staff onsite very much for their commitment.
The last few days and weeks have been full of announcements about antigen tests that are generally available and free. Again, we are monitoring developments and will inform you if there are any ramifications for our testing strategy and university life. Regardless of this, we are currently continuing to offer you the opportunity for regular, voluntary PCR testing as part of our Campus Covid Screen programme. Following relocation, the testing centre in the North Campus is also available again. The programme is available to all students, teachers and staff following registration beforehand (https://www.uni-goettingen.de/en/631931.html) and we recommend that you get yourself tested once a week.
We continue to rely on financial support to implement the programme. Information on options for donating, including via text, can be found on the Alumni Association website. Very special thanks to Sartorius for a donation of €100,000 and the Universitätsbund Göttingenfpor a donation of up to €30.000 to double your donation.
Finally, we would like to inform you that Professor Metin Tolan received confirmation of his appointment this week and will take office as President of the University on 1 April. We will send you information about the (online) inauguration ceremony next week.
