CampusPost: Röntgenmikroskopie ermöglicht neue Einsichten in Covid-19-Erkrankung / X-ray microscopy provides new insights into Covid-19 disease
Mithilfe eines neuen Phasenkontrast-Röntgentomografie-Verfahrens untersuchen Wissenschaftler*innen der Universitäten Göttingen und Hannover Gewebeproben, die der Lunge von kürzlich an Covid-19 verstorbenen Menschen entnommen wurden. Mit der neuen Technik kann die konventionelle Pathologie um eine dritte Dimension erweitert werden. Die Forscher*innen hoffen, durch die Aufklärung des Infektionsgeschehens und der zellulären Mechanismen in der Zelle die Entwicklung von Medikamenten zu erleichtern.

Scientists at the Universities of Göttingen and Hanover are using a new phase-contrast X-ray tomography technique to examine tissue samples taken from the lungs of people who recently died of Covid-19. The new technique adds a third dimension to conventional pathology. The researchers hope to facilitate the development of drugs by better understanding the infection process and the cellular mechanisms in the cell.
