liebe Studierende,
ich möchte Ihnen danken, dass Sie sich ruhig und besonnen auf unsere Anpassungen an die aktuelle Lage eingestellt haben. In einigen Gesprächen und gestern in der Podiumsdiskussion „Studieren in Zeiten von Corona“ wurde dennoch die Frage gestellt, ob wir als Universität angesichts weiter stattfindender Großveranstaltungen oder einer nicht gerade leeren Innenstadt zu vorsichtig agierten. Und gleichzeitig erreichten das Präsidium auch vereinzelte Wünsche, die Lehre wieder komplett ins Digitale zu verlagern. Vor allem aber bekamen wir Zustimmung. Ich bin mir sicher, dass wir mit unserem Lehrkonzept und seinen aktuellen Anpassungen sicher und verantwortungsvoll mit der Pandemie umgehen können, ohne die notwendige Präsenz in Veranstaltungen bis zu 50 Teilnehmenden und Praktika aufgeben zu müssen. Ich hoffe ebenfalls, dass wir damit ein Beispiel geben für einen angemessenen Umgang mit dieser misslichen, ärgerlichen Situation. Bitte reden Sie miteinander, mit den Studiendekanaten oder mit uns, wenn Fragen in der Organisation des Studiums aufkommen, und lassen Sie uns gemeinsam weiter nach individuellen Lösungen für individuelle Probleme suchen. Wenn Sie Veranstaltungen in Präsenz besuchen, achten Sie bitte genau auf die Einhaltung von 3G und der erforderlichen Abstände – und tragen Sie durchgehend einen Mund-Nasen-Schutz.
Der Campus-Covid-Screen (CCS) erfreut sich derzeit einer übergroßen Beliebtheit, was uns wiederum freut, da er neben einer Sicherheit für Sie der Universität einen Überblick über das Infektionsgeschehen auf dem Campus gibt. Wir haben die Kapazitäten bereits auf 7000 Tests pro Woche ausgebaut, dennoch konnten viele von Ihnen in den vergangenen zwei Wochen keinen Termin erhalten. Da ist es umso ärgerlicher, wenn 20 bis 30 Prozent der gebuchten Termine nicht genutzt werden und verfallen. Derzeit können wir die Kapazität des CCS nicht weiter ausbauen, auch weil wir der Universitätsmedizin Göttingen (UMG) mit notwendigen Tests helfen, weshalb ich Sie bitte, gebuchte Termine auch wirklich wahrzunehmen und nur Termine zu buchen, wenn Sie den Test zur Absicherung Ihres Studiums oder Ihrer Arbeit auf dem Campus benötigen, also zum Beispiel für Präsenzveranstaltungen oder für Tätigkeiten, die Präsenz erfordern. Der CCS sollte nicht als bequeme und kostenfreie Alternative zu den Schnelltests für private Zwecke genutzt werden. Wir behalten uns vor, in den Buchungsprozess eine Routine einzubauen, die Personen, die einen gebuchten Termin nicht wahrnehmen, für eine gewisse Zeit vom CCS ausschließt.
Zur Absicherung abschlussrelevanter Veranstaltungen wie Prüfungen oder von Veranstaltungen, die zwingend in Präsenz stattfinden müssen, wie Exkursionen, Praktika und Labortätigkeiten, werden wir noch in diesem Jahr eigene Testzeiten einrichten. Informationen dazu erhalten Sie im kommenden Newsletter.
Das Angebot des Betriebsärztlichen Dienstes für Boosterimpfungen vor Weihnachten wurde sehr gut angenommen. Aktuell gibt es für die ersten beiden Tage leider keine freien Termine mehr. Aufgrund der Tatsache, dass Termine auch verschoben oder storniert werden können, lohnt sich möglicherweise dennoch ein regelmäßiger Blick auf das Termintool. Noch bis zum 17. Dezember 2021 sind die Impfteams der Stadt freitags am Wilhelmsplatz und im Zentralen Hörsaalgebäude, und ab dem 14. Dezember 2021 stellt die Stadt auf Terminvergabe in ihrem Impfstützpunkt auf der Siekhöhe um. Es gibt also genügend Gelegenheit für die notwendige Impfung!
Im vergangenen Newsletter habe ich Ihnen von der Situation an der UMG berichtet, die sich seitdem leider nicht entspannt hat. Hinzufügen möchte ich, dass an der Medizinischen Hochschule Hannover (MHH) die gleiche Situation vorherrscht und ich gemeinsam mit dem Vorstand der UMG im ständigen Austausch mit dem dortigen Präsidenten, Prof. Dr. Michael Manns, stehe. Vor diesem Hintergrund und den vielen bevorstehenden Reisen über den Jahreswechsel appelliere ich eindringlich an Sie: Bitte achten Sie auf die Abstands- und Hygieneregeln, reduzieren Sie wo möglich Kontakte und – ganz besonders wichtig – lassen Sie sich, sobald es geht, erst-, zweit oder auffrischimpfen. Ich freue mich, dass ich meine Booster-Impfung bereits erhalten habe!

Dear Staff, dear Students,
I would like to thank you for your calm and level-headed response to our adaptations to the current situation. In conversation, and yesterday in our panel discussion „Studieren in Zeiten von Corona“ (Studying in times of Corona), the question nevertheless came up about whether we, as a university, were acting too cautiously in view of major events continuing to take place or the fact that our City centre is not exactly empty. At the same time, the Presidential Board also received separate requests to move all teaching back to online formats. More than anything else, however, we received approval. I am sure that our teaching strategy with its current adaptations will enable us to safely and responsibly deal with the pandemic without having to give up the events that need to be held in person with up to 50 participants, as well as hands-on courses. I also hope that we are setting an example of how to deal appropriately with this unfortunate and annoying situation. Please talk to each other, to the deans of studies or to us if questions arise in the organisation of your studies, and let us continue to work together to find individual solutions to individual problems. If you attend classes in person, please pay close attention to following measures such as 3G, the required distancing and wearing face masks at all times.
The Campus Covid Screen (CCS) is currently enjoying enormous popularity, which pleases us as it gives the University an overview of what is happening in terms of infections on campus, in addition to providing you with peace of mind. Already, our capacity has been built up to 7,000 tests per week and yet many of you have been unable to get an appointment in the last two weeks. So it is even more annoying when 20 to 30 percent of the booked appointments are not used and are simply left to expire. At the moment, we cannot expand the capacity of the CCS any further, because we also need to support the UMG with essential testing, which is why I ask you to please actually use your appointment and only book an appointment if you need the test to secure your learning or your work on campus, for example for face-to-face events or for activities that require your presence. The CCS should not be used as a convenient and free alternative to the quick tests for private purposes. We reserve the right to build something into our booking process that will exclude people who do not attend their appointment from the CCS for a certain period of time.
This year, we plan to set up a system so that times can be booked for testing in order to ensure that certain events relevant to final degrees can take place, such as examinations, or events that can only take place in person – excursions, practicals, laboratory activities, etc. You will receive information about this in the next newsletter.
The services of our Betriebsärztlicher Dienst (occupational health) for booster vaccinations before Christmas was very well received. Unfortunately, there are currently no more free appointments for the first two days. Due to the fact that appointments can also be postponed or cancelled, it may still be worthwhile to take a regular look at the appointment tool. The City’s vaccination teams will still be at Wilhelmsplatz and ZHG on Fridays up until 17 December. From 14 December, the City will switch to making appointments at its vaccination centre at Siekhöhe. There should be plenty of opportunities for getting the necessary vaccination!
In our last Newsletter, I told you about the situation at the UMG, and I am sorry to report that this has not improved since then. I would like to add that the same situation exists at the Medizinische Hoschschule Hannover (MHH) and that I, together with the board of the UMG, am in constant contact with the President there, Professor Michael Manns. Bearing this in mind and the many plans for travelling in the near future, I would like to appeal to you urgently: please pay attention to the distancing and hygiene rules, reduce your contacts wherever possible and – most importantly – get your first, second and booster vaccinations as soon as possible. I am happy to say that I received my booster vaccination already!
