Unterstützung für Incomings während der Quarantäne / Students help Students during quarantine
Auch in diesem Herbst kommen viele internationale Student*innen nach Göttingen. Wie alle Internationalen werden sie vor der Herausforderung stehen, sich in einem neuen Umfeld in einer oft noch wenig vertrauten Sprache orientieren zu müssen. Trotz der aktuellen Testpflicht bei Einreise aus Risikogebieten werden sich manche zudem in Selbstisolation, einige auch in eine zweiwöchige Quarantäne begeben müssen – ohne dass sie ein deutsches Bankkonto hätten eröffnen oder ein Netzwerk aus Freunden und Bekannten hätten aufbauen können, das sie in dieser Zeit unterstützt. Die Situation wird dadurch erschwert, dass es in Göttingen kaum Lieferdienste für Lebensmittel gibt.
Wer Interesse hat, Incoming-Studierende zu unterstützen, Supermarkt-Einkäufe für neue Kommiliton*innen zu übernehmen, die in Selbstisolation oder Quarantäne in ihrer Wohnung ausharren müssen, oder bei anderen Fragen zu helfen, kann sich ab sofort in der Facebook Gruppe „Students help students during quarantine“ registrieren. So können Sie dazu beitragen Unsicherheiten abzubauen und Ihren Kommiliton*innen durch diese stressigen Zeiten helfen. Vielleicht ergibt sich daraus ja auch der ein oder andere Kontakt, der über die ersten Wochen hinaus hält. For the upcoming semester we expect again many international students in September to start their studies. Like all international guests, they will be confronted with the challenge of having to orient themselves in a new environment without a command of the German language. In spite of the current testing requirements, those arriving from risk regions will be expected to self-isolate themselves and others will have to undergo a two-week quarantine. This makes it impossible to carry out initial tasks, such as opening a bank account or establishing a network of friends and acquaintances to provide them with further support. The situation is even more difficult for these students since there are very few food delivery services available in Göttingen.
Nonetheless, we are aiming to provide international students with a positive arrival experience and warm welcome, and would like to ask you for your support. If you are available and would like to make a contribution, we are looking for people who would like to help out by buying groceries for those students from risk regions, who will be required to self-isolate during a quarantine period. Together we can assist in reducing insecurities by demonstrating solidarity and compassion for those less fortunate, something that has helped all of us through these stressful times. This may also result in new and interesting contacts with international students, which may carry on beyond the first weeks after their arrival.
