Update: Impfen an der Universität / Vaccination at the University

Während die Zahl der Universitätsmitglieder mit einer oder zwei Covid-Impfungen erfreulicherweise steigt, warten viele von Ihnen immer noch auf ein Impfangebot oder stehen auf Wartelisten. Wie Sie wissen hat die Universität eine Impfstrecke geplant. Alle Vorbereitungen sind abgeschlossen: Raum (Turmmensa), Personal (aus der Zentralverwaltung und vom Impfzentrum) und Anmeldetool (GWDG) stehen bereit. Allein, und das sollte angesichts der aktuellen Berichterstattung kaum überraschen: Noch fehlt der Universität eine verbindliche Zusage von Impfdosen, damit wir starten können.
Durch unsere enge Abstimmung mit dem Impfzentrum Siekhöhe können in dieser und der kommenden Woche rund 1600 Impfdosen an Universitätsmitglieder „verimpft“ werden. Diese kurzfristige Aktion im Impfzentrum Siekhöhe aufgrund einer Sonderlieferung war nur möglich, weil die Fakultäten und Einrichtungen sehr kurzfristig auf die Anfrage reagierten und die Universität (unsere Stabsstelle Sicherheitswesen und Umweltschutz) die Terminkoordination übernahm. Sollte sich in den kommenden Tagen herausstellen, dass dieses Modell aufgrund der unsicheren Impfdosenquoten das erfolgversprechendere ist, werden wir unsere Anmeldetools und Impfstrategie entsprechend umstellen.
Seien Sie versichert, dass die Universität ständig auf städtischer und Landesebene daran arbeitet, allen Mitgliedern der Universität schnellstmöglich ein Impfangebot zu machen. Wie bereits in früheren Newslettern bitten wir alle Studierenden und Beschäftigten, alternative Impfmöglichkeiten über (Haus)ärzt*innen und die Impfterminportale der Bundesländer zu nutzen.

While it is good news that the number of our University staff and students with one or two Covid vaccinations is increasing, many of you are still waiting to be vaccinated or are on waiting lists. As you know, the University has been planning a way to provide vaccinations. All preparations have been completed: location (Mensa am Turm), staffing (from the central administration and the vaccination centre), and the registration tool (GWDG) are all ready. The only issue, and this should hardly come as a surprise in view of the media reports: the University is still missing a binding commitment to supply the vaccine so that we can start.

Thanks to our close coordination with the Siekhöhe Vaccination Centre, around 1600 doses of the vaccine can be given to University staff and students this week and next. This short-term initiative by the Siekhöhe Vaccination Centre at short notice due to a special delivery was only possible because the faculties and institutions responded to the request at very short notice and the University (our Safety/Environmental Section) took over the coordination of appointments. If it turns out in the coming days that this model is the more promising one due to continuing uncertainties regarding the supply of vaccine, we will change our method of registration and vaccination strategy accordingly.

Please be assured that the University is constantly working with the City as well as Lower Saxony to offer vaccination to all staff and students of the University as soon as possible. As in previous newsletters, we ask all students and employees to use alternative vaccination options via their own doctors and their local vaccination portal.
