Dear Staff, dear Students of the University,
Both in Göttingen and nationwide, the signs are pointing to everything opening up again, and next Monday the University will move down to level 1 (yellow: stable, low infection rate) of our 3-level plan. In doing so, we are reacting to the decreasing number of infections across Germany and in the region. We hope that with increasing vaccination numbers and continued conscientious interpretation of the rules as they are relaxed, we can all gradually experience more life on campus again.
However, running our University will still be subject to pandemic-related restrictions – the situation is still far from „normal“ life or work. The government’s regulations about working from home will still apply until at least the end of June – and the 10m2 rule in particular still places severe limitations on a return to working onsite. The requirement to wear a facemask also remains in place in University buildings.
You have all made, and are still making, an immense contribution to the response to the pandemic. We thank you for your efforts. However, as the attendance rates in labs, offices and teaching increase again in the coming days and weeks, we should also keep talking about the positive experiences from the last three „Corona semesters“ that we can bring to the future development of our University and the organisation of running our University.
With best regards from the Krisenstabsleitung (crisis management team),
