Seit Monaten beherrscht das Thema Corona die Nachrichten in Zeitung, Fernsehen und Social Media. Rund um die Uhr werden wir mit Informationen versorgt, erfahren, wo sich das Virus ausbreitet, welche neuen wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnisse es gibt, wie sich die Suche nach einem Impfstoff entwickelt und können Wissenschaftler*innen im Podcast zuhören. Was macht diese Berichterstattung mit uns? Verändert sie unser Medienverhalten? Lässt sie uns Wissenschaft und Forschung in einem neuen Licht sehen? Klärt sie auf oder schürt sie eventuell auch Ängste?
Diesen und vielen weiteren Fragen geht Senja Post, Professorin für Wissenschaftskommunikation, in der kommenden Ringvorlesung nach. In ihrem Vortrag „Die Corona-Krise. Die Rolle von Medien, Politik und Wissenschaft aus Sicht der Deutschen“ blickt sie auf Chancen und Risiken von Wissenschaftskommunikation, analysiert wie in den Medien über das Thema Corona berichtet wurde, wer sich in diesen Diskussionen zu Wort gemeldet hat und wie sich dies auf die politische und gesellschaftliche Wahrnehmung der Corona-Krise auswirkt.

For months, the topic of the coronavirus has dominated the news in newspapers, television and social media. We are bombarded around the clock with information about the spread of the virus, new scientific findings and the search for a vaccine. And we can listen to scientists in podcasts. What does this coverage do to us? Does it change the behaviour of our media? Does it make us see science and research in a new light? Does it enlighten us or perhaps it also feeds our anxiety?
Senja Post, Professor of Life Sciences Communication, will be answering these and many other questions in this upcoming lecture. In her lecture (in German) „Die Corona-Krise. Die Rolle von Medien, Politik und Wissenschaft aus Sicht der Deutschen“ (the Corona Crisis: the role of media, politics and science from a German perspective), she looks at the opportunities and risks of science communication, analyses how the topic of corona was reported in the media, who spoke in these discussions and how this affects the political and social perception of the coronavirus crisis.
